Editor's Review
Enlightenus
Enlightenus great game with the combination of hidden objects and adventure. With a lighthearted story line you come across 14 hidden object scenes and many magical rooms that keep you in the explore mode. While providing challenges throughout the game, there is one small drawback, sometimes as you are moving from room to room you reach a point where to go next? Lucky, with your gamer’s sense and experience of play you find your way to the next stage of the game.
A famous novelist has summon your help (you are playing the part of a famous inspector) to help figure out a strange mystery? A famous reclusive writer is the one whom has asked for your assistance, and his novels are based on experiences while living in his mansion. Someone has stolen his novels and have taken the pages and hidden them, very strange? You must relocate them and assembly them back in order.
During your search you will come across hidden objects scenes, like before you can use the mop, you must make sure the bucket is full with water? You start locating the missing pages from author novels, while search from room to room. The pages you find turn into hidden object scenes, and your job is to take them and place them where they belong, based on the find list.
There are some interesting things throughout the game. For example, there are some quotes from some famous people throughout history, Helen Keller being one of them. Some scenes are spooky, but they make sure that it’s not too scary for a child. The gopher is really a toy, and the cut-off hand turns out to be plastic. So really nothing that would be scary to a child.
The stories in the novels were really fun to read about, like the Raccoon gang. The stores were very entertaining with great acting in some of the opening scenes. They did a fantastic job with the graphics in many of the scenes. There are mini-games where you will find tokens set-out in logical patterns. Three tools are need for a sculptor, and three are needed for a hunter.
I would have considered giving Enlightenus five stars except for two things. First, whenever you revisit the same hidden object scene with a new find list, it "resets" each time, so a broken item you fixed on the first visit is broken again on the second. This was disappointing in a game which otherwise pays so much attention to detail.
Sometime when you ventured back to a scene you had already visited, the object that you had fixed, is now broken again? Why it does not stay fixed, does not make sense to me? This became a disappointment to me, and I’m sure it will be a downer for you too? But this is minimal, because the game keeps you involved with the adventure it takes you through.
Throughout the game you will need to pay attention to detail in each scene. As you travel through the rooms you must do certain things, while inside each room. For example, you may need to hammer a nail in a wall, or pick a flower. Keep your eyes open and take your time, because if you miss one item you will need to return and search for it, before moving forward.
Enlightenus will keep the hidden object fan very happy, due to the creativity the game offers. If you get stuck, just check-out a forum, with the help of many, you will be back on your feet, and as they say “Back in the game!”
